The Supreme Court will watch the video of police crackdown on Baba Ramdev in Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on Jun 4. The apex court on Monday, Jul 25 asked the Delhi police to submit the video that caught its (police) midnight crackdown on the yoga-guru and his supporters.
Earlier the court had asked the cops to file suo moto cognizance of the brutality on innocent supporters of Ramdev who held a fast-unto-death demanding of bringing back black-money stashed abroad.
However, the police was adamant and justified their stand saying that Baba Ramdev used the protest stage to instigate supporters and they had acted in retaliation after the assembled supporters started pelting stones at them.
Later, the yoga-guru also hurled an attack on the union home minister, P Chidambaram over the police "atrocities" on Baba and his followers.
Ramdev accused Chidambaram of sending Delhi police at the midnight to forcefully remove him (Ramdev) from the national capital.
