State Handloom & Textiles Minister P Shankar Rao was attacked on Tuesday by irate mob at NTR Nagar in LB Nagar, Hyderabad. The angry mob hurled eggs and tomatoes at the minister as soon as he came out of the car. Though Shankar Rao wasn't injured, but was shocked at the incident. He blamed the home minister and her son for the attack.

Shankar Rao went to see one Jahangir in the locality, with whom Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy's son has some land disputes. As soon as minister's car reached there, people started pelting stones on it. Police personal intervened, but it took some time for them to control the unruly mob. Meanwhile, some youth threw eggs and tomatoes on the convoy, hitting several people along with the minister. Shankar Rao lodged a complaint with the police in which he squarely blamed Sabita Indra Reddy and her son for the attack on him.

Lately, Shankar Rao had been kicking off controversies by levelling serious allegations on his cabinet colleagues including the home minister. He had alleged that the home minister's son is indulging in corrupt practices and land settlements taking undue advantage of his mother's official position. All these might have culminated into physical attack on the minister, say the sources. However, Sabita's followers denied that they have anything to do with attack.
