Congress MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal is daring to campaign in Parkal assembly constituency in Warangal district, the nerve centre of Telangana movement, on Friday. It is for the first time that Lagadapati is stepping into the Telangana region ever since the revived movement for separate state broke out in 2009. Since then, Lagadapati has been openly campaigning against the Telangana. In this backdrop, it is definitely a daring step on the part of Lagadapati to decide to campaign for the Congress in Parkal. He might have thought nobody would bother about his campaign in Parkal as the focus is mostly on the possible arrest of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
However, the party leadership is learnt to have given him the brief not to speak against Telangana and refer to the matter in any manner. He is expected to confine his speech only to attack Jagan. Yet, the police are not taking any chances and have tightened the security in Parkal in the wake of Lagadapati’s campaign.
