Two Congress MLAs Alla Nani (Eluru) and Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao (Bobbili) submitted their resignations to the state Assembly on Monday. Both of them met the Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar and submitted their resignations. They are also going to Gandhi Bhavan today and submit resignations to the party as well, it is said.

Speaking to the media, Alla Nani said he felt that as a supporter of former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, it was his duty to be with his family in their difficult time. He said he could no longer stand the persecution being meted out to the YSR's family. Congress leaders had stooped down to the level of stating that VIjayamma and Jagan had themselves murdered Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and were making fun of the tears of Vijayamma. He said, he could no longer stand it.

Announcing his decision to join the YSR Congress, Bobbili MLA Ranga Rao has said that he was joining the party in accordance with the feelings of his constituents. He said people of his constituency were of the view that Jagan was deliberately being persecuted. When asked if he was resigning because of his differences with the PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana, Ranga Rao has said he would not take such a decision simply because of his differences with one person. He said the leader of the party he would be joining was in jail and if he was an opportunist, he would have remained in the Congress and not joined the party in trouble. When questioned about the possibility of more Congress MLAs joining the YSR Congress, he said he heard that many more Congress MLAs were preparing to leave the party and join YSR Congress. He said his aim was to see Jagan as the Chief Minister.
