Senior IAS officer Y. Srilakshmi was released from Chanchalaguda Central Prison on Friday evening after she was granted conditional bail by a CBI court. Ms Srilakshmi was arrested by the CBI almost a week ago for her alleged role in the Obulapuram mining scam. As a condition of her bail she had to execute two sureties, each of Rs 25,000. While granting bail, the court directed that she should be available to the CBI whenever required for the purpose of investigation
CBI judge B. Naga Maruthi Sharma also directed that she should not directly or indirectly make any inducement, threat or promise to any person acquainted with the facts of the case so as to dissuade him to disclose such facts to the investigation agency, and she must surrender her passport. The court which heard arguments from both sides on Thursday, felt that bail could be granted as all the allegations made against the petitioner were based on documents and because she is a woman and is not keeping good health.
