Finally, the high court has resolved the problem of 1200 electrical employees who were relieved by Telangana GenCo and other Electrical departments of Telangana state few months ago. They have been facing severe financial problems since last few months as they were not paid salaries by either government after relieved from duties.
The high court gave its verdict today on this sensitive issue. It stated that they belong to Telangana government and so they should be taken back into their duties immediately. However, it orders the AP and the Telangana governments to pay their salaries including their dues in 58:42 ratio. It asks both governments to implement this method of payment till further orders.
But, the Telangana government may challenge its verdict in the Supreme Court as it is reluctant to have employees with Andhra origins in any of its offices. If, the Telangana it plans to challenge the high court verdict in the Supreme Court, then it may refuse to pay their salaries also. AP government also may hesitate to take their burden as it may encourage the Telangana government to force it to apply the same yard stick to rest of the employees also. Hence, the fate of 1200 employees may hang in the air unless both governments agree to abide by the high court verdict.
