CBI files charge sheet against Dasari

CBI has added former coal minister and veteran film director Dasari Narayana Rao’s name in its charge sheet filed on Wednesday in the CBI special court, along with 14 others in connection with illegal coal blocks allocations at Amarakonda Murgadungal. Former chief secretary of coal ministry HC Gupta, former Chief Minister of Madhukoda and industrialist Naveen Jindal are among the charge sheeted. Five companies including Jindal Steel and Power Ltd and Jindal Reality Pvt Ltd were also charge sheeted in the same case. CBI special court will take-up this case for trial on Thursday.

Dasari Narayana Rao has been arguing that he is innocent and did nothing wrong during his tenure as coal minister. Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and six others were also accused in similar case and summoned by the CBI special court. However, they narrowly escaped from attending the court after Supreme Court granted a stay on their cases in the last minute. If, Dasari Narayana Rao also gets such relief in the Supreme Court, then he also can escape from the court case, otherwise it will be a painful climax in his life story.
