Troubles seem to be mounting on the Aam Aadmi Party by the day. Earlier today, AAP MLA, Somnath Bharati was arrested for allegedly assaulting security guards of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) during an anti-encroachment exercise on September 9. He is the second AAP leader to be arrested in two days after Amanatullah Khan. Mr Bharti is out on bail in a case of domestic violence filed by his wife last year. AIIMS or the All India Institute of Medical Sciences had filed a complaint alleging that he and 27 of his supporters of misbehaved with guards on September 6. A senior police officer confirmed that Mr. Bharti was arrested in the morning.
The complaint read, "MLA Somnath Bharti and around 300 of his supporters assembled in Gautam Nagar near Nallah Road dead-end, and started breaking a fence on the boundary wall with the help of an earth mover to give access to unauthorised persons on AIIMS premises. They claimed that the road belonged to the general public. When our security guards tried to step in, he attacked them.” It said the MLA failed to provide any documents to support his claims. “During their aforesaid action, they used abusive language and caused disturbance to the patients and employees of the AIIMS.”
