Theresa May to become new British PM

The current British PM David Cameron is set to formally tender resignation paving way for Theresa May to become new British PM. Theresa May will become Britain's 2nd woman PM, after Margaret Thatcher. May is preparing to promote a string of female Conservative colleagues, including into key cabinet positions, after she is invited by the Queen to form a new government on Wednesday. The appointments are intended to create a more gender-balanced cabinet.

May, who has been interior minister for six years and is seen by her supporters as a safe pair of hands to steer the country through the disruptive Brexit process. The incoming prime minister will announce the reshuffle on Wednesday after she moves into Downing Street with her husband, Philip. May will take up residence after the Queen will confirm her new role at the Buckingham Palace. Before the referendum, May had campaigned for Britain to remain in the EU. Since the vote, she has repeatedly said that "Brexit means Brexit" and her backers say she is determined to make the exit a success.
