Saif Ali Khan has been in news from past few days due to an attack on him at his residence. He got stabbed six times and underwent a spinal cord surgery to recover. He came back to his house and latest reports suggest that the actor could lose properties valued at Rs.15000 crores in Madhya Pradesh.
Central Government has recognised Pataudi assets in Madhya Pradesh as "Enemy Property". Abida Sultan, daughter of Nawab Hamidullah Khan, Nawab of Bhopal, migrated to Pakistan post Independence while her sister, Sajida Sultan married Nawab Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi and stayed in India. Saif is her grandson and hence, got a share of her inheritence.
Now, according to the Enemy Property Act, framed after 1965 India - Pakistan, allow central to claim properties of people migrated to Pakistan as enemy properties. As per the provisions of the act, they have declared prominent properties like the Flag Staff House, Noor-Us-Sabah Palace, Dar-Us-Salam, Bungalow of Habibi, Ahmedabad Palace and Kohefiza Property as enemy properties.
According to amended Enemy Property Act, 2017, Saif can challenge the verdict in Court. If he doesn't want to challenge, the court will offer legality to central government's claim and he would lose his rights to the properties listed above. We have to wait for his official statement regarding the issue.
