Arunachal gets youngest CM in the country

Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday got its new Chief Minister. 37-year-old Pema Khandu is youngest chief minister of the country. Pema Khandu is the son of the late Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu. After Nabam Tuki resigned as the leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) and stepped down from the post of CM Pema Khandu became the Chief Ministerial candidate. From assisting his father Dorjee Khandu in politics to working for social transformation, Pema Khandu has travelled a long way to sit in the coveted post of chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh.

Eldest son of the family, Pema, a graduate from Delhi's prestigious Hindu College had an early entry into governance after his father's demise. He doesn't have to take the floor test after governor Tathagat Roy said he was satisfied with Khandu's show of strength on Saturday where he paraded 45 MLAs to prove the government's majority. Chowna Mein was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister and both the leaders were administered oath by the governor at Raj Bhavan in Itanagar.
