Rajya Sabha seat for Yakub Memon’s wife?

Maharashtra Samajwadi Party leader Mohammad Farook Ghoshi has made a sensational statement today. He demands Rajya Sabha seat for Yakub Memon’s wife Raheen. In his letter written to his party high command, he asked the party to send her to Rajya Sabha so as she can lend her voice to several hapless Muslim people, who are facing miserable situation in the country.

He said that she also has spent several years in jail and helplessly watched her husband’s death sentence. He writes it would be ideal to send her to Rajya Sabha so as she can echo the voice of helpless Muslim people.

Obviously, his statement has created havoc among the political circles. Congress and BJP described it as vote bank politics. They opine that he is trying to attract the Muslim people by making such demands. Both parties opine that no one should politicize the decision taken by the Supreme Court in Memon’s case.

However, Congress describes it is their internal party’s affair. Maharashtra Samajwadi party president Abu Asim Asmi disowned his statement and said that it is his personal opinion and party has nothing to do with it. He will be asked for explanation about his letter and statement about his demand, said the state party president.
