Why he ignored farmers when UPA was in power?

Rahul Gandhi’s padayatra conducted in Ananthapur district leads to a very interesting debate on political parties stand on farmer’s suicides. All political parties in both AP and Telangana states have strongly criticized him for his visit, after ignoring thousands of farmers, who committed suicides during last ten years of UPA ruling.

Neither Rahul Gandhi nor any Congress leader ever bothered to speak about the miserable situation of the farmers and about their suicides during their tenure. According to surveys conducted by independent agencies, around 45-62, 000 farmers have committed suicides all over the country during last 10 years of Congress ruling. Congress is not even ready to admit this bitter fact. But, Rahul Gandhi is conducting Odarpu Yatras now like YSR Congress party President Jagan Mohan Reddy in the AP state.

While Jagan is trying to highlight their suicides merely to defame the state government and to bring his party close to the people, Rahul Gandhi is doing this merely to prove that he is completely a changed man now and can fight against the Modi government. At the same time he is trying to get the media focus on to him so as to enhance his damaged reputation and image. Both have their own reasons for visiting the bereaved families of the poor farmers.

Rahul Gandhi distributed Rs. 50, 000 to two are three families in Ananthapur district yesterday. But, what about thousands of farmers’ families across the country which are desperately waiting for such help? Can his party help them also?

TRS MP Kavita also criticized him for his tour. But, her father CM KCR and ministers are not ready to admit that hundreds of farmers have committed suicides during their one year of ruling in the state. They wisely transfer the blame on to the previous Congress and TDP governments. So, no one can blame anyone as everyone has equal or proportionate share in this tragic story.
