Upendra is one of the biggest stars of Kannada Cinema who has enormous popularity in Telugu, Tamil languages as well. His films created sensation in different languages from original Kannada and hence, people to wait for his directorials with a bated breathe. After a decade, his directorial UI The Movie released on 20th December and let's discuss about it in depth.

Plot:

Satya(Upendra) is prophecised to bring Satya Yugam back by eliminating Kali Yugam. But his alter-ego Kalki(Upendra), an evil twin, wants to be a dictator by ruining the people who ruined mother nature. He uses all sorts of sins to lure them to his side and a huge political leader Vamana Rao(Ravi Shankar), who started out as a pick-pocketer, becomes his aid. Why? How does this psychological battle between Satya and Kalki turn out? Watch the movie to know more.

Analysis:

Upendra has never been a normal storyteller and director. His way of narrating something prominent has always been different and innovative. Once again, Upendra did the same by starting his movie with post release reactions and then continuing with his story.

He transfers us into his brain to understand the story and his thoughts behind it. The set-up is clever in telling us that one needs to try to understand what his ideology behind the story and intentions are. His performance and visuals, technical values, production values everything are top notch.

But the execution and eccentricity behind the thoughts and scenes are so raw that it tests patience of majority. The thought behind showcasing how purity of soul gets corrupt by people and how manipulative ways implemented by "uneducated pretentious leaders" gets into focus is all great yet execution is too weird.

Upendra is in no mood to tell you a story in simplistic terms and ways. He wants you to travel with him at his level and that's the issue with this film. Ajaneesh Loknath's BGM works, performances are good, visuals are stunning yet film is hard to digest.

In Conclusion:

Only for those who have patience to dvelve into Upendra's thought process.

Rating: 2.25/5
