Naga Vamsi rakes up Bollywood vs Tollywood storm
on Dec 31, 2024
Naga Vamsi, the famous Telugu producer who owns Sithara Entertainments and a partner of Haarika & Hassine Creations, participated in a roundtable conversation conducted by Galatta Media. Along with him, Boney Kapoor and several others also participated. While Boney Kapoor started talking about Hindi Cinema, Vamsi interrupting him talked about how Telugu Cinema has been taking over Hindi markets with hits like Baahubali, RRR, Kalki 2898 AD and Pushpa 2 The Rule.
He stated that entire Mumbai should have been at unrest and lost sleep when Pushpa 2 took an opening of Rs.86 crores gross in Hindi markets. He also made comments like Bollywood kept making movies for Juhu and Bandra audiences with Telugu Cinema showing them the "real cinema".
The video of his comments have been going viral. Entire Bollywood is unhappy with the attitude of Naga Vamsi while making those comments. In his typical laid back style, he made these comments. Now, his sitting posture, his typical no non-sense aggression is being trolled and retorted by some bollywood trackers and filmmakers.
Some are calling it as his arrogance looking at the few hits. Sanjay Gupta, the Bollywood director, pointed out that Naga Vamsi could have been more respectful towards a senior producer like Boney Kapoor. He also commented that Telugu Cinema did not deliver every film as hit and only six films have achieved such a universal blockbuster status.
While in 2024, Telugu Cinema did find two big India-wide hits like Kalki 2898 AD and Pushpa 2 The Rule but that doesn't mean Telugu Cinema has taken over Hindi Cinema. Varun Dhawan's Baby John did not work despite being made by South Indian filmmaker like Atlee, who delivered Jawan with Shah Rukh Khan.
Naga Vamsi could have showcased more respect towards a person like Boney Kapoor, who also produced Tamil films with Ajith Kumar. It is easy to be understood as arrogance even if it isn't, for those who doesn't know Vamsi. For now, he has stirred up a huge storm with Bollywood vs Tollywood analysis.
