2024 Roundup: The Misses of Telugu Cinema

Well, when you list out hits and misses of the year, if you are able to find the number of hits perfectly, then the rest should be the number of flops, quite obviously. But some films does showcase some promise and have some well-known stars or popular heroes, names attached to them. We can say that such films have been misses of the year as on paper they might have had all the ingredients to succeed yet that did not translate on to the screens.
While most of the Star heroes did secure the investments of their producers, Victory Venkatesh's Saindhav and Vijay Deverakonda's The Family Star with interesting combinations could not really translate the initial interest and anticipation into collections post release.
Depressingly enough, Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja and young stars like Ram Pothineni and Varun Tej failed big time with their films. Ravi Teja seriously needs to re-invent himself at the box office as his Eagle and Mr. Bachchan did not end up profitable. Mr. Bachchan accumulated more bad name for him than any good.
Ram Pothineni's dependency on known directors did not prove to be profitable as Puri Jagannath failed big time with Double Ismart. Matka looked promising for Varun Tej but it just ended being another flop to his credit. Alarmingly, Suhas delivered more box office flops this year and it is important for such a young actor to continue finding better and different scripts.
Allari Naresh once again had a disappointing year with comedy Aa Okkati Adakku and Bachchala Malli. Kajal Aggarwal's foray into action oriented films with Satyabhama proved to be unfruitful. Films that really showcased a promise with trailers and teasers but could not deliver like Swag, Krishnamma, Bhaje Vaayu Vegam, Love Me, Zebra and Sundaram Master should be a case study for upcoming technicians to understand the flaws and better their scripts as the ideas behind the films got critical acclaim but the makers failed to make them entertaining and engaging films.
