American Telugu Association (ATA) celebrated the ‘Detroit ATA Roju’ on April 21st, 2012 at St. Toma function hall, Farmington Hills, Michigan. The event was organized to express gratitude to Detroit Telugu people for their continued support to ATA, to celebrate the Telugu Culture, to bring awareness about ATA service activities and also to raise funds in support of the 12th ATA convention scheduled to be held in Atlanta from July 6th-8th, 2012.
The auditorium was full with over 350 Telugu people who enjoyed the evening with stupendous cultural performances by kids and grand buffet dinner. The event started at 7:30PM and continued until after midnight. The audience participated with great enthusiasm and danced well into the night. During this event ATA team has raised about $111,000 in donations from Detroit area. The ATA team thanked its generous donors and supporters who came forward enthusiastically to support the 12th annual ATA convention. Sreedevi and Nagender Aytha moderated the meeting.
Dr.Rajender Jinna, ATA president and Dr. Hanmanth Reddy, ATA founder member & past president graced the event. Dr.Jinna addressing the gathering briefed the community services done by ATA to the Telugu Community in North America and in India. Dr.Jinna stated that ATA is a vibrant organization with a great commitment to provide services to the Telugu Community, to promote Telugu Culture and to bring Telugu Community together. He explained the activities that are planned for 12th ATA convention and invited everyone to Atlanta for the convention. Dr. Hanmanth Reddy thanked the Detroit Telugu Community for their generous support to ATA.
Dr.Jinna invited Dr.Hanmanth Reddy, Devender Reddy, Dr.Sudhakar Reddy, Ram Reddy, Dr.Ramchandra Reddy, Hariprasad Reddy Lingala, Murali Bommanaveni, Vinod Kukunoor, and Nagender Aytha on to the dais and officially launched the ATA channel on Yupp TV. The entire ‘Detroit ATA Roju’ event was transmitted live through the ATA channel that was watched all over the globe by ATA members, supporters, and friends & relatives of the participants. All ATA programs that will be organized from now will be transmitted live through this channel.
The event was organized by ATA Regional Coordinators Murali Bommanaveni, Vinod Kukunoor, and Nagender Aytha, Ram Reddy (Executive Committee member), Dr.Ramchandra Reddy (ATA International Coordinator), and Hariprasad Reddy Lingala (ATA Media Chair). Rakesh Puli, Rao Nerusu, Srinivas Raju, Yugandhar Bhumireddy, Venkat Beeram, Kishore Tammineedi, Vijay Pallerla, Jogeswara Rao Peddiboyina, Venkat Aekka and many other volunteers helped in organizing the event. The event ended with the vote of thanks to everyone who made the occasion a very grand success with special mention to the donors for their generous support, parents who worked hard to prepare their kids for the event and thanked all the volunteers, local Telugu People and Associations for their support.
