ATA hosts Charity Golf Tournament benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters

American Telugu Association (ATA) hosted its Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Sunday April, 24th 2011, at the famous Grapevine Golf Course, Grapevine, TX. The tournament was organized as a sole purpose to raise funds for US based charity organization Big Brothers Big Sisters and all the proceeds from the event were to support their noble cause. The tournament registration started early morning at 0700 AM with over whelming response from the teams and individual players. It was a perfect weather day for golf and over 12 teams participated in the tournament. Welcoming the teams, Arvind Reddy Muppidi & Suresh Reddy Gottimukkala, ATA DFW Regional Coordinators said “ATA purpose is not only to promote Telugu culture & heritage but also to serve humanity by providing community service”. They also highlighted the purpose for the golf charity event benefiting noble cause and pointed out that ATA is planning more community service events in Dallas/Ft Worth area in near future.

All teams competed in a shotgun format and there was some great competition between the teams. Tournament was played in a fun filled cordial atmosphere and saw great performances from the teams & as well as from some individual players. Grapevine Golf course director Walter Green appreciating the efforts of ATA in conducting the tournament in professional manner, declared JP Reddy, Baji Edupganty, Sreedhar Kancharla & Narender Gavva’s team as winner for the tournament with five under score. The runner up team for the tournament was Vikram Reddy, Suresh Shankar, Ravi Gampala & Srinivas Raola with two under score. Mahesh Adibhatla, Kiran Chitturi, Pavan Akula, and Nick Richards, Baji Edupuganty won the longest/shortest distance shot competition respectively. The trophies were presented in front of large Telugu audience who gathered for the presentation ceremony.

Speaking at the presentation, the event main sponsorer, JP Reddy of Speech-soft solutions applauded ATA efforts in organizing charity events and said that ATA provided a great platform to small businesses for giving back to society. The collected proceeds from the event were presented to Mr. Dan Stuchal, VP of Big Brothers Big Sisters by JP Reddy and Venkat Reddy Muchintala, the main sponsors for the event. Speaking while receiving the check from ATA, Dan thanked ATA for supporting the Big Brothers Big Sisters and said the proceeds will help in benefiting youth for betterment in their future.

Remembering Sri. Satya Sai Baba, Satish Reddy, ATA Board member said “Sri. Sai Baba’s extraordinary commitment for world humanity will be remembered for many decades to come and ATA will follow his vision to do more service to humanity in the future”. Satish continued to say ATA condoles and mourns for the death of Sri.Satya Sai Baba. Finally, Ananth Reddy Pajjur, Jt.Secretary gave vote of thanks extending special thanks to event sponsor Speech-soft solutions and trophy sponsor Precious Beginning Montessori Academy for their generous support. Ananth also thanked media partners TV9, Yuva Media, & Eknazar for providing the media coverage and thanked players for their supporting the event. The charity golf tournament was organized by ATA Dallas/Ft Worth team consisting of Arvind Reddy, Sudhir Reddy, Ananth Pajjur, Satish Reddy, Ajay Reddy, Raj Akula, Sudhir Guda, Bhanu Prasad Reddy, Ram Annadi, Ashok Chittiprolu, Seelam Reddy, Suresh Vulvala, Vamshi Chamala and many others.
