The administrations of Chandigarh has announced a new policy that might create a furore in the city. The policy called "Controlling of Places of Public Amusement, 2016," has issued many directions to maintain peace at the places of public amusement such as pubs and discotheques. According to the policy, a special committee can revoke the license of a pub or discotheque if the conditions in the policy are violated. ‘Any exhibition or advertisement of scantily dressed women’ is one among the conditions prescribed in the policy.
This means that girls who wear skirts and shorts might be rejected at the entrance of such places. The administration claims that the policy was framed in accordance with the order of Punjab and Haryana high court. The high court was recently concerned at a number of violent incidents near discotheques, and has asked the administration to frame a policy to avoid such situations. And this is what the administration has come forward with!
