THE NEVER ENDING DEBT OF THE LORD OF SEVEN HILLS
Tirupati - the dwelling place of the lord of seven hills. Its a journey we all went on. After seeking the blessings of the Lord we donate our hair and money. Why do we do that? Mythology narrates the story of Lord Venkateshwara borrowing money from Lord Kubera i.e lord of wealth for the former’s wedding ceremony with Goddess Padmavati. This is known to all. What we don't know is, when the debt will be repaid. A similar curiosity of Mr. Narasimha Murthy compelled him to question the RTI on this matter. His questions were forwarded to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam which gave out an interesting answer. Let us first understand the questions of Mr. Narasimha Murthy. He wanted to know - what was the amount that was borrowed by the Lord? How much has been paid already? And how much remains? Is the debt not repaid from all the donations of lakhs of people for so many year? To these questions the Tirumala temple and Sri Venkateswara Vedic University answered that we will be able to clear only the interest by the end of Kaliyug [present age]. The rest of his questions still remain unanswered. Looks like Mr. Narasimha Murthy has to wait a little longer for the answers. But how long? The question remains a mystery for now!
