Naga Chaitanya was born in a family that has Telugu cinema industry heavy weights. He was born to Akkineni Nagarjuna and his first wife Lakshmi (daughter of Rama Naidu). His maternal grandfather Dr. D Raman Naidu is billed as Movie Mogul, while his paternal grandfather Akkineni Nageswara Rao was also a recipient of Dada Saheb Phalke and Padma Vibhushan awards. He is also nephew of Venkatesh, another matinee idol and his cousins include Sumanth and Sushanth, who are also into Telugu movies.
