on Apr 7, 2016
As "Sardaar" is all set to hit cinemas in 12 hours from now with Benefit Shows and Premiere Shows first, let's have a look at the Pre-release business of the film. Going by trade reports, we have to say that Pawan Kalyan's distributors are burdened with nearly 90+ crores investment that is to be recovered.
From Andhra and Telangana states alone, distributors have paid an whopping 61 crores to own the theatrical release rights. While Nizam fetched nearly 21 crores, Ceeded got 10.5 crores and other big districts like Vizag is sold for 7.2 crores. Including West (4.4 Cr), East (5.4 Cr), Krishna (4.3 Cr), Guntur (5.5 Cr) and Nellore (2.7 Cr), the film fetched 61 crores approximately from distribution of theatrical rights. Coming to other states, Karnataka is sold for 8.5 crores, Tamilnadu sold for 1.2 crores, while Rest of India (including Hindi version) fetched 6 Crores. That's a humongous business in India, solely happening on Pawan Kalyan's craze.
If we add Overseas sales figures of 10.5 crores, worldwide theatrical rights of "Sardaar" fetched 87.2 crores. That means the film has to collect nearly 90 crores 'share' to be termed as safe movie, which means nearly 180 crores 'gross' should come from box office. Ohh, that's huge!!
