Robinhood has been one of the most actively and creatively publicized movies of Telugu Cinema in recent times. The movie has been able to create good buzz prior to release. Nithiin, Sreeleela have promised a thorough entertainer with the film and Venky Kudumula delivered two blockbusters like Chalo and Bheeshma prior to this film. Let's discuss about the film produced by Mythri Movie Makers, in detail.

Plot:

Ram (Nithiin) is an orphan and he turns into Robinhood to help his orphanage and everyone in the country to survive. He starts to steal from those cheaters who showcase compassion for publicity sake and give false promises. During one operation, he gets to know that a Police Officer is coming closer to him and decides to not engage in operations and join a security agency. Nira Vasudev (Sreeleela) appoints his security agency as her primary security for her India visit to her parental village. But the village is under control of Swami (Devadatta Nage) and he grows cannabis there. How will Robinhood solve this issue? Watch the movie in theatres to know more.

Analysis:

Nithiin is good in this role and his looks, performance are an asset. Sreeleela looked glamorous and did well in emotional scenes. Her comic timing in few scenes could have been better but she did well. Rajendra Prasad and Vennela Kishore comedy scenes are good but they did not work out at the level that we anticipate. Devadatta Nage has a generic villainous role and David Warner cameo is good.

Technically, the movie is good as Sai Sriram could bring visual grandeur to the film. But his over utilisation of pastels and concentrated highlights does make the frame look a little bit artificial. VFX could have been better and editing at places feels rushed and random. Music by GV Prakash Kumar is good to listen individually but the placement of songs in screenplay did not help them much. His Background score is good enough.

Venky Kudumula could create funny scenes still sticking to a commercial formula with Chalo and Bheeshma. Here, he tried to mix many elements and narrate few things with sugar coating of comedy all over. But certain sequences have been so over the top that it is hard to swallow humor in them. His one-liners have come good at few places while looked out of place at many. Still, he delivered a passable time pass flick.

The movie could have used a little bit more concentration on the emotional thread rather than hinting it as a twist. It would have worked better with a narrative that carries us with the emotions along with the adventure, comedy. Few scenes looked too obvious and forced for the commerical aspects. As the movie keeps a good smile on our face throughout, it is fine to watch for time pass at theatres.

In Conclusion:

Robinhood works fairly when comedy is at the offing but emotionally doesn't connect.

Rating: 2.5/5
