Buzz: Should Varma Stop This Nonsense?
on May 2, 2016
Firstly it is Rakta Charitra, then some crime films like Not A Love Story, and then we have Veerappan, now followed by "Rai". All these films are based on crimes, factionists and crime lords, though some of the protagonists are noted politicians. His latest Rai is based on story of real-life don Muthappa Rai, who is very much alive and gave inputs for the film.
For example if you make a film on patriots, good souls and rebels, then that will inspire the people. But in what way these crime stories are going to inspire? Not all films should be inspiring, well they could be just entertaining. But in what way these crime stories entertain, if not making those crime lords as heroes? In a way all these films sound like non-sense though its fact that those films have both producers and audiences as takers.
Maybe Ram Gopal Varma should seriously think about what he's doing and stop making films on these crime lords. Can't he make unique concepts like Siva and Kshana Kshanam?
