'The Kashmir Files' beats 'Radhe Shyam

Many expected South Indian films to take over Bollywood with the success of Allu Arjun's Pushpa: The Rise, and soon, a number of pan-Indian films from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada were announced.

Following the failures of Telugu film Khiladi starring Ravi Teja and Tamil film Valimai starring Ajith Kumar in Hindi, all hopes were set on Prabhas, the hero who pioneered the trend of pan-Indian films and pan-India stardom.

Prabhas returns with the historical romantic drama Radhe Shyam after the Baahubali films and Saaho. The big-budget love story was released on March 11 and was expected to do well at the box office in both its Hindi and other versions.

Unfortunately for Radhe Shyam's creators, the unexpected happened.
The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri and starring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Darshan Kumar, garnered favourable reviews and was a box office success.

In comparison to Radhe Shyam, The Kashmir Files had a limited release in only 630 screens and performed well on its first day, earning around the same amount as the Prabhas starrer.

From the second day on, it was a one-horse race, with the Prabhas film trailing considerably behind the Anupam Kher feature.

Radhe Shyam did not hold up well in its first two days of release, earning only Rs 9 crore, whereas The Kashmir Files earned Rs 12.05 crore.

On day 3, The Kashmir Files went into overdrive and collected Rs 15.10 crore taking its three day total to Rs 27.15 crore.

As for Radhe Shyam, the Hindi version of the film has been deemed a huge flop.
