Does Vetrimaaran not like taking his assistants names?

Vetrimaaran, the most talented and highly respected director of Tamil Cinema in this generation, has been seen ending his speech in a spit of anger. At the trailer launch event of his Viduthalai 2 film, he seemed visually upset by his assistants.

He spoke for 15 minutes about the movie being over budgeted and working for more than 285 days on principal photography. He praised Soori, Vijay Sethupathy for their commitment during this period. He openly stated that he asked for 8-10 days of call-sheets first from Sethupathy but then increased it to 157 days, almost.

Vetrimaaran also talked about the genius of legendary composer Ilaayaraaja while composing background score and songs for a film. He stated that he took videos of the composer out of admiration. He praised his production designer for keeping everything ready to shoot whenever he asked for.

He gave them credit for helping him to pull off such a huge film with such herculian efforts. But as he spoke at length, suddenly, one of assistants asked him to say his name. Immediately, his lost his temper stating that he credited the entire team and then cut short his speech and walked off from the podium.

Now, many are asking does Vetrimaaran not like to take his assistants names on stage? The director has turned producer to support not just his vision but promote his assistants as directors. He asks them to bring scripts and work on their long term dream rather than staying his assistant.

So, he just did not want to talk about each one of them on the stage and he did not take names. One shouldn't try to make this a huge issue. Viduthalai 2 is gearing up for a release on 20th December, worldwide.
