Bharat Ratna award to be conferred to Ilaiyaraaja?

Ilaiyaraaja, the legendary composer of Indian Cinema, has produced many memorable songs and BGMs that many start their day with his music and end their day with the same. He left such a mark on Indian Cinema that it is hard to ignore for generations to come. Now, some reports suggest that Ilaiyaraaja could be conferred Bharat Ratna.
The composer has been awarded with Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan in 2010 and 2018, respectively, by the Government of India. Recently, in 2022, he has been nominated to Rajya Sabha, by President Ramnath Kovind, too. Still, he has been actively composing for films and garnering appreciation.
Looking at his tireless contribution to Indian Cinema and the reach he gained worldwide with his compositions for Indian music, the Government is thinking about announcing Bharat Ratna to the legendary composer, say reports. As he always stayed apolitical, nobody will object it state the reports.
After M. G. Ramachandran, Satyajit Ray, M. S. Subbulakshmi, Ravi Shankar, Lata Mangeshkar, Bismillah Khan, Bhimsen Joshi, Ilaiyaraaja would be one to receive Bharat Ratna, for his excellence in Arts and Humanities. If the government of India confirms, this would be one of the biggest honor for Indian Cinema, for sure.
