Vikrant Massey Retirement: Should actors retire?

Vikrant Massey, the Bollywood movie and TV actor, has created a storm with his retirement announcement. He stated that he wants to concentrate on his family life going forward and hence, he wants to quit acting. He stated that he will be meeting audiences in theatres for only one last time in 2025.
He wrote, "Hello, The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise its time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor. So coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many a years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. Forever indebted."
Many of his fans have been shocked with such an announcement from him. Some are speculating that he could be promoting any of his upcoming film or Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 12th Fail: Zero se Restart, stating that he is rediscovering himself. Few more speculating that it could be a way to just rediscover himself after 5-6 years.
Well, the retirement announcement though brought up a topic of discussion whether actors should retire or not. Actors like NTR, ANR, Krishna never announced retirement but Sobhan Babu stated that he wouldn't act in late 90's. While many others have been in different businesses from TFI, no one from Indian Cinema, seriously talked about retirement.
Few actors like Mikkilineni, Allu Ramalingaiah have wished to act till their last breathe and did so. Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand have been against the idea of retirement. Superstar Rajinikanth went through a phase of announcing retirement but he came back while Kamal Haasan decided to stop acting for his political ambitions. Both the legends are accepting new films like they are on a mission to do as many as they can.
Vikrant Massey has been looking forward to be part of many films after his 12th Fail and The Sabarmathi Report, as per close sources. But what changed his thought process, we cannot say for now. At this moment, be it for self promotion or for a movie promotion, his decision is interesting and increasing our curiosity about his thinking style. Let's see how it will change in coming days.
