Vikramasimha is set up in the Kings era and the story revolves around the rivalry between two different kingdoms. Rajinikanth is a warrior for one of the kingdoms and he has played a dual role as son and father in two different periods. In the both the periods, Rajinikanth remains a warrior and strives very hard to protect his kingdom, king and it's people. Vikramasimha (Father) is betrayed and killed. Rana (Son) grows up with the revenge planted in his mind. How Rana succeeds in protecting his kingdom from the baddies ? Who betrayed his father and why ? Love life of Rana and family life of Vikramasimha !! forms the rest of the story
Analysis:
Watching Vikramasimha in 3D was the worst mistake I did. Clarity and perfection in scenes went missing although the film has a very strong and impressive story line. Vikramasimha can entertain audience of all age groups but that is just once. One important factor that makes Vikramasimha interesting is Rajinikanth's performance.
Technical Analysis :
Direction :
All the hype about the first ever motion capture 3D movie went for a toss as the film did not reach the expectations of audience. Vikramasimha's whopping budget doesn't look evident anywhere. We might be unaware of the technology used, but at least we end up watching a lot of animated films and cartoons for sure.
Cinematography :
Rajiv Menon did his bit well. But his work got over shadowed by the negative points in animation.
Editting :
Editing was absoutely imperfect in Vikramasimha. Dialogues went off sync with the scenes.
Music :
A RRahman's music had great effect on the film. Songs were mesmerizing and background scores for Rajinikanth were breathtaking.
Performances :
Rajinikanth :
Super Star's dialogue deliveries were mind blowing. In fact, his dialogues were intense. Fans of Rajinikanth would have liked this role much more, if he had done it as his real self instead of an animated character.
Deepika Padukone :
Deepika was not just a glam doll but in fact had a performance oriented role which involves an interesting action sequence related to martial arts.
Villains :
Jackie Shroff and Nasser proved themselves as seasons villains once again through Vikramasimha. The two of them did justice to their roles.
Highlights :
1. Rajinikanth's performance
2. Music by ARR
3. Concept and Story
Drawbacks :
1. Flaws in animation
2. 3D Effect has no work in the film.
3. Defects in editting
Conclusion :
Vikramasimha is perfect for a one time watch. For enjoying Rajinikanth's performance and to witness a different genre, Vikramasimha is worth. However, 2D is far better than the actually hyped 3D version which is simply capable of killing the essence of the story.
