Thalapathy Vijay has been delivering back to back big grossers in recent times. He announced that Jana Nayagan will be his last film and he would concentrate on politics full time. His fans have been eagerly waiting for the release date of the film. The makers locked 9th January, 2026 release date.
Vijay and Ajith have made Pongal and Diwali festivals as their big release dates for their respective fans to celebrate their releases. After Varisu, Jana Nayagan will be his big film to release for the festival. So, he chose this big festival for his swan song.
Makers have stated that the first-look poster set the internet on fire, portraying Vijay standing tall, taking a selfie with an electrified crowd—a symbol of his deep-rooted bond with his fans.

The movie is directed by H. Vinoth and it is stated to be remake of NBK's Bhagavanth Kesari with Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde in leading lady roles.
