Srimanthudu: Public Talk Vs Paid Reviews
on Aug 11, 2015
On Monday afternoons, when people rushed to catch up “Srimanthudu” in theatres, half of the theatre wasn’t filled. At the same time, the routine way of story telling in second half has stunned people who have read reviews and ratings that have imparted more than 3.5 stars to the Mahesh Babu starrer. Well, what boomeranged?
For films like S/o Satyamurthy that boasted family, ethics and values, our critics have stopped with 2.5 stars and then for a magnanimous epic film like Baahubali they got only 3.25 stars in their kitty. But surprisingly Srimanthudu got 3.75 stars, spelling a wonder. When public talk about the movie is that it’s just an average film, how come critics have rated with best of the words and numbers? There is buzz going on that most of the reviewers, high profile media houses are paid heavily by the makers through ‘advertisements’ and that resulted in this heavy ratings and applause.
Someone might ask, how come every other critic is praising other than the ones who got paid? “There is this story in Indian ancient texts, if one guy calls a dog as a tiger and makes 10 others believe, then the whole village calls it as a tiger only. That’s called herd-mentality”.
