Sikandar marks Salman Khan's domination for Eid

Salman Khan has been able to make big holiday Eid his own with continuous blockbusters. In fact 2010's will be written in history books of Hindi and Indian Cinema has pure domination of one Superstar - Salman Khan for Eid holiday weekend. Shah Rukh Khan delivered a big blockbuster Chennai Express for Eid but he did not own the date.
It became evident that Salman Khan will come for his Eidi gift on Eid at the big box office. He started this Eid sentiment with Wanted in 2009. The movie became his comeback hit at the box office and then, Dabangg in 2010 became his biggest blockbuster till that time. Making Eid sentiment stronger, Bodyguard released in 2011.
Ek Tha Tiger in 2012, Kick in 2014, Bajrangi Bhaijaan in 2015, Sultan in 2016 cemented his command at the Eid box office so heavily that even other Superstar Khans have decided to not give him competition for the date. It became ominous to clash with Salman's films during the holiday weekend.
But starting with Tubelight in 2017, Race 3 in 2018, Bharat in 2019, Radhe in 2021, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan in 2023, Salman Khan failed big time at the Eid box office. Makers used to be saved with opening weekend numbers at least from big disastrous returns till Bharat, even that changed now.
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan took an abysmal opening of Rs.15.81 crores with opening weekend numbers at Rs.68.17 crores. This Eid's release Sikandar took a better opening but it released on Sunday and collected just Rs.25-27 crores. If it had been a Friday release, it would have been even lower than KKBKKJ.
The movie marked Salman's big ticket release after 1 and half year, post Tiger 3 and despite low promotions, many wanted it to be at least put up numbers higher than Chhaava's Rs.31-33 crores. With such low returns, that too with big action film that too directed by a reputed filmmaker like AR Murugadoss, trade experts are asking Salman Khan to take a gap like SRK and return with a much better film that focuses on screenplay and not just his stardom.
Rashmika Mandanna's Pan-India success streak that started with Animal and continued with Pushpa 2 The Rule till Chhaava has ended with Sikandar. Even die hard fans of Salman Khan are not satisfied with the film and movie is facing overwhelming negative word of mouth.
Earlier Salman films did not get affected by it but that is not the case, now. Murugadoss fans are hoping for his big comeback with Sivakarthikeyan's Madharasi.
