Positives:
1. Ravi Teja
2. Anil Ravipudi Writing, Direction
3. Several Hilarious Episodes
Negatives:
1. Few Slow Moments In 2nd Half
2. Regular Story
Analysis:
Hero Ravi Teja and director Anil Ravipudi attempted a great experiment of protagonist with a disability. Apparently, director completely targeted mass audiences as he included excess number of mass and heroism elevating elements from start to end. Though protagonist in the film is a blind, we won’t find much difference as he does everything. Ravi Teja is shown as gifted with extremely good sensory capabilities. His scenes with Radhika, Srinivas Reddy and Rajendra Prasad in first half were hilarious. The episodes of Ravi Teja narrating his childhood story of how his father had left the home and how his mother takes the big responsibility was heart-touching and the training period was shown efficiently. The pre-interval action sequence was massy.
Movie turns a bit racy after Ravi Teja and Mehreen go to the latter’s hometown. Posani Krishna Murali and batch provided some laughter. However, movie turns slow later ever since Ravi Teja challenges Vivan Bhatena. Last 15 to 20 minutes action scenes spoil the flow, though one section of audience may like them.
Artists Performances:
Ravi Teja steals the show with his unique comedy timing and exceptional energy in dialogue delivery. Apparently, he has worked hard to set his body language right. Playing the role of a visually challenged guy was a challenging task and Ravi Teja passed it with distention marks. He was equally good in hilarious as well as action sequences. Mehreen Pirzada was okay in the role of Lucky. As we all know Radhika is a great actor and she has shown has supremacy in playing the mother role. Rajendra Prasad was amusing. Vivan Bhatena was convincing as antagonist. Posani Krishna Murali was good. Other artists played their parts efficiently.
Technical Aspect:
Director Anil Ravipudi opted to a regular story. However, he provided good entertainment from start to end, though there were few dull moments here and there. What impressed more was his penning of uproarious and powerful dialogues. Music director Sai Karthik rightly exploited the opportunity to compose music for a mass star like Ravi Teja. Though songs were okay, his work on background score was imposing. Cinematography by Mohan Krishna was brilliant and Editor Tammi Raju should have chopped few boring sequences. Production values of Sri Venkateswara Creations are top notch.
Verdict:
Raja The Great would work well in mass centers. However, it needs to be seen how the movie will be received in class centers.
