Unanimous Choice For Oscar From India

The Film Federation of India (FFI) announced Rakummar Rao starrer film Newton as India’s official entry for the Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Film language category this year. FFI’s selection committee head and Telugu producer CV Reddy said that Newton was a unanimous choice.
Newton revolves around an officer who is on a mission to hold free and fair elections in a remote village in Chhattisgarh. The political satire, which won at Berlin earlier this year, stars Pankaj Tripathi, Anjali Patil and Raghubir Yadav in important roles. Directed by Amit Masurkar, Newton released today has been garnering all-round praise from both the critics and celebrities who’ve watched it.
Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan who has watched Newton is in awe of the film. “Saw the film 'NEWTON' .. its stark reality was a treat to watch ! An eye opener .. on many aspects .. !!” said he.
Let’s hope, Newton which has potential content wins at least one award at Oscars!
