Mani Karnika Is Fresh Target, After Padmaavat

Of late, historical films are drawing opposition from various social groups. Recently, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s prestigious venture Padmaavat drew flak from Rajput fringe outfits for alleged biased depiction of Rani Padmini in the period drama. Freshly, Telugu director Krish’s Manikarnika which is made based on the life of Rani Laxmibai is also facing opposition.
A Brahmins organization in Rajastan named ‘The Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha’ has raised criticism over the film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi starring Kangana Ranaut.
The Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha sent a warning letter to the film producer Kamal Jain asking the motivation behind the film’s plot and the kind of songs to be portrayed in the film. However, they didn’t get any response from the makers.
As per the organization, if the government doesn't interfere, they will stop the film's shooting and government will be completely responsible for it.
We need to wait and see whether the makers of Manikarnika will react to the allegations or simply go ahead with the shoot.
