Lokesh Kanagaraj returns favor of Akkineni Nagarjuna

on Apr 2, 2025

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has become the most loved and followed director in recent times. His emergence with Maanagaram did not create big wave but his second film, Kaithi changed even the way South Indian action cinema is approached. He took it to next level with Lokesh Cinematic Universe.

He delivered huge blockbusters with Vikram and Leo, starting connected universe concept adding new characters to Kaithi. The director made Master with Thalapathy Vijay and the movie has many moments that have gone viral and became memorable. The director is now returning the favor of Akkineni Nagarjuna.

The Master director has agreed to take a masterclass, that is, give a guest lecture at Annapurna College of Film and Media. He will be taking the class on 4th April and this is the first time, he is giving such a lecture. He is doing so, specially, for Nagarjuna, who agreed to play a prominent role in his Coolie.

Nagarjuna doesn't agree to star in a film without any prominence, and Lokesh asked him to play a negative role. After several discussions, Nagarjuna agreed only due to Lokesh's persistent approach. As Nag did not want to play negative role in Rajinikanth film, it took so much of convincing.

Still, it is a big deal, as Nagarjuna is actively pursuing lead protagonist roles in Telugu Cinema and such a turn could change the perception about him. So, when Nagarjuna asked him to give a lecture for his students, he agreed to it. Coolie is releasing in August this year.
