Jurassic Park has become a sensation creating a cult franchise bringing Dinosaurs back to life. The franchise has been rebooted as Jurassic World with different islands being occupied by Dinosaurs. The craze for the movie franchise has dipped with Jurassic World Dominion and to rejuvenate the studio brought Jurassic World Rebirth. With Scarlett Johansson in the leading role, the movie released and let's discuss about it in detail.
Plot:
Transgenetic Mutated Dinosaurs are created in laboratories and during their research, they find out that prehistoric Dinosaurs biomaterial samples have DNA that can be used for a revolutionary heart disease medicine. Martin Krebs (Rupert Friend) hires ex-military covert operative Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson) along with paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey) and Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali) leads Zora's team.
As the Dinosaurs have been shifted to Islands near Equator and the team has to fight against the dinosaurs who are trying to escape on these tough terrains. Can they? Who will win in this battle? Watch the movie to know more.
Analysis:
Scarlett Johansson's screen presence and her skills in action sequences have worked well for the film. But the movie suffers with over dependence on Dinosaurs and the action sequences involving them. The formula laid by Jurassic Park has been over exhaustingly used by the makers and it has become abused so much that Jurassic franchsie needs to think out of the box.
Steven Speilberg created a wonder out of possibility of Dinosaurs coming back to life but trying to recreate Avatar formula and use it for Jurassic World, the makers are unable to really make it all worth it for the technicians to feel like its worth it. The emotional thread that the makers have tried to infuse with a family being floated to one of Dinosaur inhabited lands when they are strictly prohibited thread doesn't work at all.
Even the stunts feel less cool and grow over the top after a point. Gareth Edwards has a huge blockbuster under his name with Star Wars: Rogue One but he faced criticism about the pacing in the film. Here too, the movie has no real emotional weightage for audiences to connect with the characters under any circumstances. Even a likeable presence like Scarlett's doesn't inspire a viewer travel through the movie that offers nothing new. A revamp is needed for this big monster franchise.
Bottomline:
The movie doesn't really deliver on the promise of Jurassic Park and World franchise.
Rating: 2.25/5
