Jana Nayagan Trailer: Vijay is no more waiting

on Jan 3, 2026

The trailer for Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan has finally arrived, and it serves as a massive, politically-charged farewell for the star. Directed by H. Vinoth, the visuals confirm the long-standing rumors: the film appears to be an official or heavily inspired remake of the Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari.

However, the narrative has been significantly recalibrated to suit Vijay’s current trajectory, loading the screen with heavy political undertones and dialogues that feel like a direct address to his future path. Prakash Raj has been brought in as a villain to give Vijay's most celebrated film, Ghilli, a nod, one final time.

While the trailer successfully showcases Vijay’s unparalleled screen presence and authority, the overall "punch" feels somewhat muted. A significant contributor to this is the background score by Anirudh Ravichander, which feels uncharacteristically underwhelming for a project of this magnitude.

It lacks the usual electrifying energy that fans expect from this duo, leaving the high-octane action sequences feeling a bit flat. On the positive side, Bobby Deol looks menacingly cool as the antagonist, and Mamitha Baiju appears fit and perfectly cast for her role. Pooja Hegde has been given journalist role.

The departure from Vijay's characteristic "I am waiting" to "I am coming" is majorly in reference to his political image and aspirations. The beats are all there but the kind of tightness that we expect from Thalapathy trailers in recent years has been missing as it seems like a slight rushed cut to give everthing.

The trailer cut itself could have been tighter to build better momentum, as it occasionally feels like a collection of moments rather than a cohesive buildup. Despite these minor hitches, the sentiment remains clear: the king is ready for his final bow. Jana Nayagan is clearly designed to be a celebration of Thalapathy’s legacy.
