South India’s popular director Shankar has once again teamed up with National Award winning actor Vikram for ‘I’. Touted to be a romantic and action thriller, ‘I’ got released today across 2250 theatres in India. In USA, ‘I’ created a new record within the Indian films by releasing in close to 500 screens. Let’s us get into the review to know more about ‘I’.

Story:

Lingeshwar (Vikram) is a body-builder who wins Mr. Andhra title. He is an ardent fan of Diya (Amy Jackson), who is a popular model. Due to some reasons, Diya requests Lingeshwar to do a TV commercial along with her in China. Things take a turn from there and both Lingesha and Diya fall in love. All of a sudden, Lingesha notices some changes in his body and he comes to know that he is suffering from a genetic disorder disease. What happens to Lingesha? Who is responsible for Lingesha’s genetic disorder? Will Diya and Lingesha unite in the end? Watch it on the big screen to know more.

Analysis:

Taking Shankar’s past filmography into consideration, audience enter into the theater with lot of expectations. Especially after delivering a graphical extravaganza like ‘Robo’, movie lovers expect more from Shankar. This time, he took a different genre based on genetic disorder. Shankar took his time to establish the character of Lingeshwar aka Lingesha aka lee. Shankar took a simple story and blended elements like love, lust, jealousy and revenge. However, time duration has become a biggest negative point for the film.

Story loses its pace and entering into the second half, anyone can expect the predictable scenes and the climax was dragged. It’s one of those times that you want to walk out of the theater but still, you won’t, as it’s a Shankar’s film. Logically, this film doesn’t have any loopholes but most of the scenes were dragged to the core.

Teluguone Perspective

Since we watched the film along with the neutral movie lovers, most of them were confused. They were left in a state whether to say they loved the film or hated it. This kind of situation definitely arises to anyone when the director’s name is Shankar, who has delivered some masterpieces like ‘Gentleman’, ‘Bharateeyudu’, ‘Jeans’, ‘Oke Okkadu’, and ‘Robo’ etc.

Talking about the bright side, Amy Jackson has sizzled in this film and her scintillating beauty is one of the major assets in ‘I’. Locations in China were exotic and the songs are very good. Technically, there is no complaint about ‘I’ as there are some big names like PC Sreeram and AR Rahman involved in the project. Music, Background Score, Cinematography and editing are good and the major drawback for the film is Shankar. Vikram’s hard work get lost in a terrible film.

Performances & Technicalities:

Vikram is a proved actor. One needs to have a lot of guts to appear in a hunchback role and Vikram has done it with ease. Amy Jackson has surprised everyone her stunning beauty and wonderful performance. Santhanam was good. Suresh Gopi & Upen Patel we OK.

AR Rahman’s songs and Background score are one of the biggest advantages of the film. PC Sreeram captured the exotic locales of China with his lens and it's a visual feast.

Positives:

Amy Jackson & Vikram

Songs

Negatives:

Shankar’s Execution

Time Duration

Predictable Scenes

Dragged Climax

Teluguone Verdict: ‘I’ is undoubtedly the worst work of Shankar so far. Watch it if you want to know how Shankar made a bad film.
