Ace Director Mani Ratnam celebrates his birthday today and we take this opportunity to wish this legendary director, a Very Happy Birthday on behalf of Telugu One. Mani Ratnam is a man known for making unique films. It requires great taste to understand the depth and intensity in his movies. Mani Ratnam started off his career as a director through a Kannada movie. Although that film didn't fare well at the box office, it did manage to acquire critical acclaim. Later on, he came up with two Tamil films Pagal Nilavu and Idhaya Kovil. These two movies established Mani Ratnam as a good director in the film industry. Mani Ratnam directed masterpiece films in Tamil and those films were eventually dubbed into Telugu. Movies like Bombay, Mouna Ragam, Roja, Thalapathi and so on created an image for Mani Ratnam in TFI as well.

Mani Ratnam's direct Telugu movie was Nagarjuna starrer Geetanjali. This film did not attract the masses, but did end up as a classic. Mani Ratnam got married to Kamal Hasan's niece Suhasini in 1988. Suhasini is an actress herself and has been a part of many big films. Movies like Agni Nakshatram, Yuva, Guru,Kannathil Muthamittal and so on portrayed the skills and rawness of Mani Ratnam as a director. Although his career spanned over 3 decades, Mani Ratnam was never in a hurry to make too many films. We could say, this man believed in quality and not quantity !!!
