Comedienne Rama Prabha birthday

Comedienne and character artist Rama Prabha has completed 68 years out of which 48 years of it were spent in the South film Industry . With a chequered journey in the film industry she has acted in close to 1400 films in all four languages and one or two odd Hindi Films too. If you remember the song Muthu Kodi Kawari Hada in the Hindi film Do Phool you will see her dressed in a lungi dancing with Mehmood .

She has acted with all the top actors from NTR , ANR, Raja Babu, Padmanabham , Allu Ramalingaiah, to Allu Arjun, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna , Ravi Teja and as a grandmother to many new heroines including Regina in Kotha Janta. Once married to actor Sarath Babu with whom she acted in many films and a marriage which she termed as a marriage of convenience, he had divorced her in 1988 which left her in desolate state. She came out of her isolation to act in films once again and gained recognition in the films Appula Appa Rao and Nine Pelladatha.

Her performance in Desamuduru as Mataji and as Ravi Teja’s mother in Neninthe was well appreciated. Though not as active as she was in her earlier days Rama Prabha continues to regale audience through Television serials and few roles on and off in films. Another interesting fact is that Comedy star Rajendra Prasad is married to Vijaya Chamundeswari who is Rama Prabha’s niece.Except for a Nandi Award she is yet to be recognised by the state government for her contribution to the TFI.TeluguOne wishes her a very happy birthday!
