Cinema Choopista Maava Movie Review

Cinema Choopista Maava review, Cinema Choopista Maava Movie Review...CInema Choopista Maava actually marks the return of Uyyala Jampala fame couple Raj Tarun and Avika Gor in unison. At the same time, director Nakkina Trinadha Rao is looking forward for big break as his past flicks like Mem Vayasuku Vachham made splash but haven’t established him as a big director. Trailer of the film looks rather promising for its comic content, so let us see what the film is all about.
The CONTENT:
Somnath Chatterjee (Rao Ramesh) is a Bengali settled in Hyderabad, happens to be a government employee who lives ‘quality’ life by rules and standards. Kathhi (Raj Tarun) is a below middle-class guy, a lazy student and uncultured brat, living in a slum where his father sells petrol illegally on roads. From the start, Somnath encounters Kathhi in odd time and never likes him. After he showcases photo of his daughter Parivarthana (Avika Gor) to kathhi in a quarrel, the youngster falls flat for her. Finally after impressing Parivarthana, Kathhi reveals the same to Somnath, aka Maava. To get rid off Kathhi, this quality man asks him to undergo a test for 30 days. What happens there after is the rest of movie.
The EFFORT:
On-Screen:
Raj Tarun is superb in scenes that need fantastic comic timing, but he’s over the board many times as he tried unnecessary heroism. Especially, slapping his friend like a Pawan Kalyan and handling fights like a superstar hero doesn't look convincing. He tried to pull a little larger than life character, but looked underweight. Still he’s like a street-food that’s spicy and yummy, catering the tastes of typical Indian middle class.
Avika Gor splashed her cute and chubby look in almost all the frames of the film, but she isn’t given any substantial role to play. Unlike her debut film, here she is just like a standby character, though she’s the heroine of the film. She looked nice in few scenes, but she’s putting on heavy weight which made her look little awkward in few times.
And the one who steals the complete show is Rao Ramesh. He is perfect as a caring father, a person who lives by quality. He pulls every single emotion flawlessly and his mere presence brings that grace, charm and elevation to all the scenes he’s present.
All other actors are happening comedians who got just a scene or too but they have showcased their mettle. From Jabardasth batch to Swamy Ra Ra Satya, Praveen to Krishna Bhagavan, Melkote to Posani, everyone just nailed it with right punch and expressions. They are the backbone of the flick at each interval.
Off-Screen:
Director Trinadha Rao has got perfect setup in hand, with an engaging tight script that has ‘comedy’ written all over it from first frame to last frame. That’s the strength of his film and his screenplay in deriving comedy worked out well. He made sure emotions never lose, graph never falls and all actors give their best, thought little exaggerated.
Sai Sriram has come up with nice visuals for this otherwise comedy film set in simple locations 80% of the time. The way he filmed couple of songs with just trick bulbs decorated around is pretty awesome. His camera work provided the required refreshing look for the flick.
Music director Sekhar Chandra’s album is not passable, at the same time we can’t rule the songs out. Couple of them are really fantastic. Coming to background score, he just rocked it. There is a sequence where there is no dialogue for at least 10 minutes and Sekhar Chandra killed it with amazing bgm.
For this otherwise routine story, Prasanna Bejawada’s dialogue are like a heart beat. His timing and rhyming clicks superbly with B & C centres. Emotional scenes got that depth due to dialogues, while comedy turned hilarious due to his short, crisp satires.
The PLUSES:
Hilarious First Half
Rao Ramesh, Raj Tarun confrontation
3 belly-bursting comedy sequences
Wholesome entertainment
2 songs
The MINUSES:
Predictable story
Weak portrayal of love
BREAKDOWN:
Nakkina Trinadha Rao has only one thing in mind. For 2 hours, he wants audience to just laugh, laugh and laugh. Seems like he made ‘Cinema Choopista Maava’ to become a money spinner and sure it turns one.
As the film opens with Rao Ramesh introducing his ‘quality’ paithyam and Raj Tarun’s massy doings, its just laughing everywhere. As the hero gets beaten by his father, scolded by Rao Ramesh and then he falls flat for heroine Avika, it’s all hilarious. Graph of the flick is just racy as the bus-comedy sequence clicks where actor Satya leads the show. It further runs to new heights another skit sequence by Jabardasth gang of comedians fuels comic outbursts. The skit deals with mixing Draupaudi saree-removing and Ramayana characters, through that ‘Ahalya Amayakuralu’ way. It takes some hitch for hero and heroine to express their love for each other, but those cute little moments are little dramatic but impressive. As it heads to interval, there is not much twist, but films holds that grip of what happens next.
Post interval, it’s a little emotional turn, but the brilliance of director is that he narrates it with fun. Confrontation scenes between Rao Ramesh and Raj Tarun work due to their hot dialogues, and then silly comedy creates huge laughs. As each scene pops up on screen with actors like Rajesh, Krishna Bhagawan step in to give their due, its just belly bursting. All these carefully woven comedy scenes lead to a twisty pre-climax, a regular expected twist, but some good emotional dialogues. Though romance between lead couple is missing, comedy won’t let you notice that. Climax is a total laugh riot as Posani jumps in to make the show work.
High volatile hilarious comedy is the ‘weapon’ of this film to mint money at B & C centres. Two hilarious comedy sequences in first half (Bus and Mahabharatm skit) and two in second half (Dining table and drinking scene) hold the nerve. Multiplex audiences might feel the flick little louder, silly and illogical however. Lack of a cute romantic track or some enchanting melodious songs is a minus, but for 2 hours the film promises non-stop laugh riot which even Allari Naresh is failing to give these days.
Final words: Non-stop comedy cinema choopincharu maava!!
RATING: 2.75/5
