Chuttalabbayi Movie Review

Story:
Babji(Aadi) works for a bank as a recovery agent, whose job is to make people pay back their loans, which they have taken on EMI. He helps his friend to recover the money he has lent to people and helps marry off his sister. And this is where he meets Kavya(Namitha Pramod). Though Babji and Kavya are juts acquaintances, Kavya's brother(Abhimanyu Singh), an encounter specialist, comes under the impression that they are a couple in love.
Babji, coming to know of the misunderstanding Kavya's brother has, wants to clear the air and tell the truth to him, thats when Kavya runs away from her house. That is when Babji helps him Kavya, and her brother is sure that Babji is behind her running away from her house. The entire Hyderabad police department is on a look out for them. Also another gang is trying to hunt the couple down. But suddenly Dora (Sai Kumar)'s gang kidnaps them. Who is it Dora? Why did they kidnap them? Will Kavya's brother forgive Babji? This forms the gist of the story.
Cast:
Though Aadi did a good job in the dance and fights department, he still has to work on his acting skills. Most of the time, you end up seeing the same expression on his face. Heroine Namitha Prasad, just does not impress you with her acting skills. You are left wondering if she is one of the big drawbacks of the film. Her lip sync is unimpressive too. The powerhouse of talent, Sai Kumar is not given enough scenes with intensity to show his skills. Though the supporting cast did what was required of them, it would have been better if they could have taken some notable artists too. Posani is just ok in the movie. Prithvi did a good job.
Technical Aspects:
Veerabhadram Chowdary, who has delivered hits like Poolarangadu and aaha naa pellanta and hit a roadblock with Bhai, which did not do well at the box office. He had to deliver a hit with this movie to find his footing in the industry again. But he failed to do it again. The movie is loaded with punch dialogues. And that is where it ends, though entertainment is the key to get the audience to the theater, you just cannot run the movie with some punch dialogues. The camera work is one of the highlights of the film. With especially the village sequences translate beautifully onto the screen. Editing is below par. The music by Thaman is quiet ok. But only a couple of songs end up ringing in your mind.
Analysis:
There has to be a story, and the comedy scenes should look like a part of it, and not like as if they have been forcefully added to the proceedings on screen. Wish the Director paid as much attention to the story as he paid to the punch dialogues in the movie. Mere 20 minutes into the movie, you realize there is nothing in it for you to sit through the rest of it. You fail to understand if you are watching a serial on the big screen or is it indeed a movie. Even if you manage to sit through the first half, the second half is hard to watch. The comedy sequences which slightly tickle your bones in the first half, even those are missing in the rest of the film.
