Can Coolie end the Kollywood wait for 1000 crores?

Superstar Rajinikanth in his peak has been able to take Tamil Cinema to global heights. This statement is not being made out of love, fanism towards the man but his Baasha, Chandramukhi, Sivaji, Enthiran shocked many industries even Hindi Cinema, with their reach and worldwide collections.
Chandramukhi and Sivaji gave confidence to Tamil Industry to produce a futuristic sci-fi movie like Enthiran. In fact, Enthiran gave tough competition to 3 Idiots, which became huge 300 crores grosser, the every next year in 2010. Rs.200 crores gross looked tough for Telugu Cinema, Enthiran achieved it first for Tamil Cinema.
While Magadheera, released in 2009, became biggest blockbuster of Telugu Cinema, it could not cross Sivaji's worldwide gross that released in 2007. Such gap existed at the peak of Rajinikanth's career before 2010's. But post Baahubali, the situation has changed completely.
SS Rajamouli gave first gigantic blockbuster for Telugu Cinema that collected over Rs.600 crores gross, being loved all-over unanimously. It opened Hindi market for Telugu Cinema and gave dreams to Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam filmmakers as well. Baahubali-2 took Indian Cinema to next level, grossing over Rs.1700 - 1800 crores.
KGF Chapter-1 has changed the game for Kannada Cinema and KGF Chapter-2 became its first Rs.1000 crores grosser. But Rajinikanth's 2.0, a much anticipated and hyped sequel with Akshay Kumar in one of the lead roles for Hindi Market, also ended up grossing close to Rs.660 crores to 800 crores.
And the second best, Jailer grossed only Rs.650 crores gross but much hyped Thalapathy Vijay's Leo fell short of Rs.600 crores. On the other hand, RRR, Kalki 2898 AD and now, Pushpa 2: The Rule have grossed Rs.1000 crores worldwide. Even Hindi Cinema, saw back to back 1000 crore grossers in Pathaan and Jawan with SRK's comeback.
While Dangal did cross Rs.2000 crores gross worldwide, the movie did most of its business in China but it collected only Rs.750 crores gross before China release. Now, Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 The Rule has been able to deliver single day highest collections in Indian Cinema and Hindi version has been making sensational numbers.
So, Tamil Cinema is waiting for their biggest breakthrough that can collect Rs.1000 crores. Thalapathy Vijay has announced his political plans and he is not looking to continue in films atleast in near future. Ajith, who has equivalent market to Vijay in Tamil Nadu, has more interest in his racing career and he is yet to deliver Rs.400-500 crores grosser.
Kamal Haasan has huge reach India wide, but his films choice is so different and varied that no one can pinpoint about his future films to deliver that big one. His much hyped Indian 2 failed big time and Indian 3 doesn't have such chance. Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan-1 grossed Rs.450-500 crores but PS-2 grossed only Rs.350 crores. So, his Thug Life with Kamal Haasan can only look at Rs.500 crores as initial goal. But it can surprise like Vikram, which took everyone by surprise by grossing Rs.400 crores, a first for KH.
Now, Lokesh Kanagaraj, who directed Vikram and Leo, that grossed over Rs.400 crores and Rs.500 crores, respectively, is working with Superstar Rajinikanth. Their movie Coolie has huge gallary of stars like Akkineni Nagarjuna from Telugu Cinema, Upendra from Kannada Cinema and could feature Aamir Khan from Hindi Cinema, too.
So, if the movie clicks big time, it should be able to at least cross 2.0 final gross and give the lifetime highest grosser for Tamil Cinema. But Tamil Cinema is anticipating Rs.1000 crores from this film and they are hoping at least Jailer 2 can become bigger success than the first one.
All eyes are on Superstar Rajinikanth from Tamil Cinema and the actor even in his 70's has to be the one to deliver the highest grosser for his Tamil Cinema. Well, Happy Birthday Thalaiva, may 2025 be the biggest successful year for you and Tamil Cinema.
