on Jan 28, 2026

Republic Day weekend saw Bollywood brining its biggest film to theatres in terms of collections and anticipation as Border 2 matched Pathaan in few areas of ticket sales. While Shah Rukh Khan starrer still holds the top place, Border 2 is second. On the other hand, Ajith Kumar just shook Tamil Nadu with Mankatha Fever over weekend.
Looking at the Box Office updates gathered from various sources for Republic Day weekend till 28th January, here are the films that are performing well at the box office and stood out.
Sunny Deol’s Border 2, officially crossed the ₹200 crore mark in just five days, maintaining a rock-solid hold on Tuesday with approximately ₹23.31 crore. This brings its domestic total to a staggering ₹216.79 crore nett, with worldwide earnings soaring past ₹293 crore. It is working in North Indian markets pretty well.
Down south, "Thala" fever is back. The re-release of Ajith Kumar’s cult classic Mankatha has shocked trade analysts by grossing over ₹16.25 crore in India within five days. It even shattered the opening day record of Vijay’s Ghilli re-release, proving that Vinayak Mahadevan's grey-shaded swag is timeless.
Meanwhile, Megastar Chiranjeevi is dominating with Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu. The film has amassed a worldwide gross of ₹358 crore in 15 days, emerging as a historic regional blockbuster. Nari Nari Naduma Murari is holding up well but other Sankranti releases have almost ended their run.
In Mollywood, the wrestling drama Chatha Pacha started off well but fizzled out, crossing ₹12.62 crore nett in India. Bolstered by a viral Mammootty cameo, it has good acclaim among action lovers and WWE lovers but not being able to repeat Sarvam Maya level magic. In fact, Nivin Pauly's Baby Girl ended up as a disaster.
