STORY: Acceptance Of Baahubali’s Records
on Jul 8, 2015
July 10th is swiftly arriving. 48 hours more, we’ll witness a spectacle on silver screen which is never made by any Indian producer or director. Rajamouli’s magnum opus is getting a red-carpet welcome. It’s time to discuss about the impact of this epic movie “Baahubali” on box office and industry records.
In all likelihood, Baahubali is going to amass nearly 18 crores share from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana alone on day one of its release. That will be surely a new record of sorts, with “Attarintiki Daredi” holding the record of top ‘share’ getter on day one at 10.75 crores. Prabhas fans are now hopeful that almost all the possible collection records in Tollywood will be now written on their heartthrob’s name only. Exuding confidence that Baahubali will beat the full-run collections of industry hit Attarintiki Daredi that collected 73+ crores from box office, fans are now claiming that Prabhas is the new No.1 of Telugu film industry.
The other day Prabhas himself stated that No.1 position will be owned by those who scored consistently for years, but one movie’s success will not bring such. Still his fans believe that he will be the new crowned king of Telugu industry. Cinema lovers however saying “Forget the No.1 status of Prabhas, but who is going to accept Baahubali’s records?” They have a reason to justify their remark.
Big films like Aagadu are able to release in 860+ screens in Andhra and Nizam, but Baahubali is hitting cinemas in around 1500 theatres. That is a sort of double than what any big hero’s release will get. When a movie is releasing at double screen count, of course the collections will also get doubled. So, how’s that number treated as record? Also the burden on this film is something that drives it to collect more than what all the industry hits have collected till date.
Baahubali needs to amass nearly 250 crores ‘share’ from its two parts. Let’s share 150 crores to first part and 100 crores to the second one. If the film scores a blockbuster, then the dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam may get awesome shares of 30 crores, 20 crores and 10 crores respectively. So, Telugu version has the load to recover nearly 90 crores share from box office. Forget the point that this 90 crores share is a new industry hit record because if there is any loss producer is going to burn his hands.
Records later, grand collections are needed to save producers. Jai Mahismathi.
