Alia Bhatt has become one of the most sought after actresses of Indian Cinema. She won multiple awards for her performances and has been looking to do more lady-oriented action entertainers, currently. The actress has come up with Jigra and the movie released on 11th October. Let's talk about the movie in detail.

Plot:

Satyabhama Anand(Alia Bhatt) tries to plan a jail-break for her younger brother Ankur Anand(Vedang Raina) after he gets arrested for possession of drugs. She believes him to be innocent and wants to help him escape Malaysia. Also, she has to accomplish this task within 3 months before his deatch sentence takes effect. She meets Bhatia (Manoj Pahwa), a retired gangster and Muthu(Rahul Ravindran), an ex-cop. They decide to help her on her mission. What happens next? Watch the movie to know more.

Analysis:

Some films stay with you after watching on big screen and we tend to go back to re-live such experiences. But there are several films that just frustrate you even during their runtime in the theatres. Jigra belongs to later category with over indulgence from director Vasan Bala. He has very unique and distinctive approach in direction but call backs cannot make a film. This one relies heavily on such call backs to keep us engaged.

The mission, the set-up and the jail-break everything looks superficial and nothing really packs a punch. Alia Bhatt is good in showcasing her desperation but she is not so good in certain sequences that demand her to be sharp. Maybe a decision taken to fit the character but that takes us away from the proceedings. Even other actors don't really pack a punch to fall back on.

In Conclusion:

The movie doesn't really awoke the emotion such a sister-brother bond adventure film really needs. A wasted opportunity.

Rating: 2/5
