Acharya Review: Unbearable Mega Spectacle

After several postponements, the multi-starrer starring father-son combination Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan released today. The action entertainer, which also stars Pooja Hegde, has been one of the year's most anticipated releases.

Koratala Siva had two star heroes and a star-studded cast on his hands, but he couldn't generate enough hype to get people to see the film in theatres.

Let's talk about the Mega Spectacle.

The story revolves around Dharmasthali. The entire story centers around the challenges that arise in Dharmasthali and how Acharya (Chiranjeevi) resolves them.

Koratala Siva's script is too weak in this film, and everything appears to be a patchwork. Unlike his previous films, which had a strong foundation narrative and emotional touch, Acharya skips everything to become a commercial drama and ultimately fails miserably.

The performances of Megastar Chiranjeevi and Mega Power Star Ram Charan, as well as their combination sequences, were decent but not spectacular. Fans will enjoy the song Bhale Bhale Banjara. Pooja Hegde, as usual, is a heroine and the hero's love interest. The rest of the actors did an excellent job.

In terms of technicality, Koratala Siva's script lacks a compelling hook, while Manisharma's background music is subpar. A lot of unnecessary portions could have been cut, much like Koratala Siva done with Kajal's role.

Thiru's cinematography and art direction are good. Technically Acharya looks superior, the real hero behind the scenes is Art Director Suresh Selvarajan, who has wonderfully created a world called Dharmasthali with huge temple sets.

Overall, this film is an unbearable mega-spectacle that gives nothing new to the spectator.
