AR Rahman In Oscar Race With Pele

Music maestro AR Rahman had registered a double Oscar win for his work in Slumdog Millionaire in 2009. He was in Oscar race in 2010 with '127 Hours', but didn’t win award.
This time, Rahman is again in the race in the Original Score category for the 89th Academy Awards for the film Pele: Birth Of A Legend, which is the biopic on the legendary football player. Rahman is competing with 145 others in the same category.
A popular number from the film ‘Ginga’ is also in the Oscar race. It is part of the long list of 91 songs, which are competing for a spot in the final nominations for the Original Song category.
The long lists of both the categories were released by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on its official website
The final nominations for the 89th Academy Awards will be announced on January 24, 2017. The presentation ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 26, 2017 at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood.
