20 Years For Iconic Telugu Film

“Pedarayudu” and the name give goose bumps. Rajnikanth’s sparkling cameo, Mohan Babu’s tremendous acting prowess, Bhanu Priya and Soundarya’s fantastic emotions are the ones we could recollect other than Koti’s music and Ravi Raja Pinisetty’s terrific direction. All these ingredients made one astounding flick that roared at Telugu box office, when it released in January 20 years ago.
Remake of Tamil flick “Nattamai”, this film went on to become a biggest blockbuster that Mohan Babu has ever acted and produced on his own Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures banner. Talking about the movie, Mohan Babu says, “Pedarayudu wouldn’t have been possible if Rajnikanth is not there. He advised me to buy remake rights of Nattamai and promised to act in the guest role too. And the rest is history”. How much remuneration does Rajni took for this film? “Nothing. Nothing in terms of money, but I’ve given him something quite personal”, Mohan Babu avers. Pedarayudu went on to run for 25 weeks even in a Bangalore theatre, where Telugu speaking people are just limited.
Meanwhile, Mohan Babu is getting ready to kick start his next film as a solo hero under Srinivas Reddy’s direction, which happens to be a remake of a Marathi film.
